The Circle Of Support - Andrew Reed Foundation

The Circle Of Support

THE CIRCLE OF SUPPORT

Our Foundation’s core differentiation comes from the unique combination of bursaries but, also, most importantly, the pastoral structure in place to support these vulnerable children.

While every boarding school offers pastoral care, it is the holistic approach that Reed’s provides which is different as it enables our Foundation pupils to integrate into everyday school life and have opportunities to shine and flourish.

The ‘circle of support’ means that no child ‘falls through the net’. Every member of staff is empowered to take on a duty of care that complements the outstanding education on offer to ensure that the child’s time at Reed’s is as fulfilled as it can be.

Because all these groups have a common goal, namely the well-being of each Foundation pupil, every emphasis is put on collaborative teamwork, regular communication, and shared strategies.

If you would like to find out more about how our ‘Circle of Support’ works and come and see it in action, please contact a member of our Foundation Office team: foundation@reeds.surrey.sch.uk

HOUSEMASTERS & MATRONS

HOUSEMASTERS & MATRONS
The House system is at the heart of school life; a Housemaster and Tutors focus on the academic progress & pastoral care of pupils. Foundation boarders benefit from the support of a resident Housemaster and a Matron to care for their specific needs.

TUTORS

TUTORS
All pupils have a Tutor who is responsible for mentoring their academic and pastoral progress and is the first point of contact for parents. Tutor groups meet daily for registration and for extended tutor periods on two occasions each week.

FOUNDATION OFFICE

FOUNDATION OFFICE
Our Pastoral Foundation team provides a neutral listening ear to parents and Foundation pupils (in collaboration with house tutors and housemasters) and are there to provide the pupil with practical, financial, and emotional support.

MEDICAL & HEALTH CENTRE

MEDICAL & HEALTH CENTRE
The School’s Medical Centre is staffed by a team of qualified nurses with on-call provision at night and a visiting GP for boarders. The school is committed to ensuring all the children have access to the necessary medical care.

COUNSELLORS

COUNSELLORS
For some Foundation pupils, working with a professional counsellor at school will be beneficial to their well-being. We work with external charities and specialist counsellors to ensure we can meet the needs of every individual pupil.

PEER GROUP

PEER GROUP
Foundation pupils are paired with other, older pupils who have had similar life experiences. Having a safe space to talk and a dedicated role model helps to improve self-esteem and confidence in all aspects of their school lives.

OTHER STAFF

OTHER STAFF
Foundation pupils who require additional academic support will have access to the well-equipped Academic Support department. Pastoral and spiritual support is available for pupils of all faiths from the Chaplain.
